I haven’t used the cleaver yet but it’s well-built and I’m looking forward to chopping up some meat and some chicken I love it

A good weight for cutting through rib and chicken bones. But not too heavy to wield.

This is a very well made cleaver. Sturdy, hefty, comfortable handle...easy to clean. Quite a beauty. Worth every penny :)

Great product, comes sharp as a meat cleaver needs to be, great weight, comfy handle, exactly what I needed for work, and for the price you can’t get any better.

I am a serious cook and out for the best cookware and cutlery. I chose a full line of Messermeister Meridian Elite cutlery, except for the cleaver. Since the cleaver has basically one function, I chose the unglamorous Four Seasons cleaver. The balance and the heft are there which makes work effortless cutting through all but the heaviest of bone.

This knife is well made and well balanced to hold but it's way bigger than we anticipated. Overkill for normal kitchen use. Didn't think we'd ever have a whole cow to chop up so gave it to our local butcher who raves about it and I think now gives us the best cuts of meat

Ok to cut bones, but not as sharp as I have imagined.

I have a deep fear and respect for this chopping machine, lol. It is not to be trifled with. It cuts through bone with ease. It has a nice, heavy weight to it. Use with care!

Your grandmother wouldn't have been without a good cleaver in her kitchen. Today, with packaged meat, they are less common. Which is unfortunate, because a cleaver can save your modern, thin, light, and very expensive chef's knife from a lot of abuse. This Messermeister is just the right size for home use. It is thick and sturdy enough for any task and the convex edge is a perfect compromise between cutting and chopping. Front-heavy as a cleaver should be and a good sanitary handle design.

I was after a 6 inch cleaver to tackle jobs beyond the scope of my chef's knife and this Messermeister fits the bill perfectly. What sets it apart from most cleavers this size is the extra heft. This is a very well made kitchen tool. Weighty, sharp, feels great in my hands. More than enough knife for most home chefs and likely pulls it weight in a commercial setting too.Thank goodness I overlooked the poor review. They must have gotten hold of a bad copy or possibly need better cleaving technique. To say this cleaver can't cut chicken minus bone or whatever seems a bit irresponsible. I've no doubt serious hand-digit injury could result if you're lazy or unfocused with this one. For the record, mine cleaves up chicken just fine. The price is not inconsequential but the quality of the item is apparent. Some may not like the handle material but I've no issue with it. A winner.

I like it very much.

I didn't buy it on Amazon and I have the 6 inch model, not the prettiest cleaver out there but I saw the other review, maybe that person is just weak but if they used other cleavers I can't imagine having a problem with this one.Cleavers don't typically come surgically sharp that's common knowledge and this is way sharp enough, I've never had a problem cutting anything the the blade edge holds up that why my rating is so high. It is heavier and the thickness is more than others cleavers I have which can be good and bad. I don't remember paying this much for it though but it's a few years old and looks new still since I take care of it. It's sad the one other review is a one star because they claim it won't cut something? Does anyone believe that, it won't cut??
