Debra L.
Very sharp, and a very nice looking knife. I am a little disappointed in the weight of the knife in my hand.
The handle feels light and the knife feels unbalanced in my hand.
Carlos L.
By far the BEST steak knives in the
market.
James M.
Excellent performance, elegant appearance.
Steven P.
4 stars only because I've just recently recvd these knives. They could be 5 star. Come back in a year.
As advertised. Look good, feel good, sharp. I will see what I'm really dealing with when I have to have them resharpened which hopefully won't be for quite a while. Perhaps naive because I do not give special care to silverware. Glad to have them.
Laura M.
Beautiful knives- sharp and pretty to use for the table.
Brent S.
Very comfortable to use.
Regina D.
Purchased for my son for Christmas.
He loves them.
Thank you!
Michael S.
Beautiful, sturdy, and modern.
John H.
These all stainless knives look great, are extremely sharp, and should last a long time. We are very happy with this purchase.
Adele K.
The steak knives are wonderful. The heft is perfect, they are a good solid knife that slices the steak smoothly. We love the knives.
Robyn J.
Used the steak knives at my mom's house - and loved them so much that I had to buy them for my own home. They have a great weight to them.
Matthew L.
These knives are brilliantly sharp and slice cleanly through everything I've used them on, with no tearing or ripping at meat or poultry like inexpensive serrated knives. They require a little more maintenance in terms of hand-washing and periodic sharpening, but they're well worth the effort.
The only criticism I have, and it's a minor one, is that they feel light in your hands. I was hoping for something with a bit more heft to it, but the textured steel handles appear to be hollow rather than solid, explaining the lower weight. The versions with wooden handles may feel different.
The handles are also a bit short if you have large hands. Most people will find them perfect, but I'd have preferred the handles to be maybe 3/4" to an inch longer. They're still very usable even for me, and are hands-down (no pun intended) the best knives available anywhere near their price range.

SUPER GREAT PRODUCT, SUPER COMPANY !! WILL DEFINITELY ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!!
Ward M.
Good steak knives to go with my new silverware set. Nice look with the brushed finish. Good weight and feel. Super sharp. I bought the blade covers to protect while in the drawer. straight edge makes it easy for sharpening.
Lawrence G.
These are wonderful steak knives. They look stunning and feel extremely comfortable. And of course, they are sharp and effective steak knives. I am so happy with them.
Jeff T.
Sturdy despite being very light. Blades are very sharp enough for surgery.
Jay B.
A nice set of knives. Not too expensive, but very high quality!

I have been waiting for these knives to come back in stock, and the wait was well worth it. These are beautiful knives, very well made, and very sharp. They will be great additional to anyone dining service. But just as importantly, the people at Messermeister were so helpful and generous with me as I waited. I can say without exaggeration that I have never been treated with such kindness and care by any retail company. I will certainly return to buy more of their products.
KP
Long time ago I purchased 8 (too expensive to purchase any more), but now I am purchasing my last 4, so that I have enough steak knives that match. Feel really nie in the hand (left or right), pretty, and I have yet to need to sharpen these. I don't know what "Sheerness" means, without researching, so am not rating it.
Amazon Customer
So I ordered my real steak knives. So happy with this purchase. Make sure to hand wash and dry. Very happy
Sara
One of the knives came with something rattling inside and I have no idea how to contact someone. The other three knives are fine so I don’t want to replace the whole set...
J
Good quality, very sharp, stay sharp.
Paul W.
Very sharp and love the look. I know handles can be issues with knives, but with these you don't have to worry about that.I think you are getting a lot with this knife set for the price.Haven't tested long term, but I think Messermeister is a good names in knives, so have confidence there won't be issues. Will update review if there are any issues.
M Giger
Very well-balanced and sharp steak knives. Nice look being all stainless. Replaced others with a serrated blade which routinely tore holes in my dish towels.
Tedley
just purchased....so far..so good.razor sharp and without serrated edge.classy - and they don't look ferocious as if they could open up an artery.....but these are damn sharp.recommended.
Leslie Curtis
Very pretty and sharp. I love them
Hiyapaul
Fast shipping. Nicely balanced. Sharp. Hand was only.
Del
Out of the box they are sharp, and appear decent quality. However over time, as others have stated, they do not hold up. I’ve had mine for about 2.5 years and have always hand washed my knives, and still the handles all cracked at the rivets.
Kip Owens
I love these knives because they are not cerated, just very sharp blades which is all you should need to cut through steak. Highly recommend them.
oldtechdude
We needed new steak knifes, and after reading the Wirecutter(dot)com review, bought 2 sets of the Fine Edge in black. Wow - great knives: nice look, good fit and finish, plus the full tang construction has a very good feel in your hand. Oh, and they are SHARP, so be careful. Have had them for 2 months now and am very happy. I especially like feel of the Messermeister's better than the Wusthof Gourmet they replaced (not complaining, I got 30 years out of the Wustof's).
sRobot
These are black and looks great. I've sharpened them with stone so they cut even better. They are quite sharp right out of the box.
Benjamin J. Moore
Really happy we went from serrated to this. Having a sharp new knife is fantastic! I worry about wear, but we'll have to see how that goes; fact is we don't use steak knives all that often - but I managed to come up with an excuse right after we got them and they make a world of difference! Cuts steak like butter - and they look great too!
Don M
I received these steak knives as a Christmas gift. They are well made, durable, and had no imperfections. Quite possibly the best steak knives I have ever owned. I like that they have a flat edge, instead of a serrated edge, so I can sharpen them when necessary.
Avid Mac
There is nothing not to like about these knives. I bought them based on overwhelmingly positive reviews. As a bonus, they perfectly match my Wusthof Ikon knives (also top rated and an awesome value), and look great in the same knife block. Are the steak knives giftable? Well, they don't come in a fancy box if that's what you mean. However – any recipient not thrilled with a gift like this should be detained for questioning.
Davesdd3
Just got these steak knives. Fairly sharp out of the box. Slices paper easily with a pull stroke, but doesn't quite do a push cut. Should be able to easily cut a tough streak. Scales fit well with no open spaces along tang or bolsters. Rivets and tang aren't totally flush with scales, you can feel them when running finger over them. I can't feel the boundery of the scales and the rivets and tang on my Wusthof classic knives. The metal these knives are made of should allow good edge retention yet still be able to be sharpened, definitely easier than serrated edge knives. For less than 1/4 of the cost of Wusthof, these knives are well worth buying. Will be buying more for gifts.Update 11-23-2018 Just got the second set I ordered. The fit and finish is better with this set. Sharpness is also a little better. Definitely recommend these steak knives.
genie
Arrived quickly, price was good; bought because of Wirecutter review. Preferred black plastic handle because reviewers raised durability issues with wood handles. Regardless--these match my Henckel cutlery. Very satisfied with product and vendor.
Amazon Customer
Very satisfied with this purchase!
jet
Cuts my steak flawlessly. Came sharp and handles are in great condition. Always hand wash your knives. The dishwasher will ruin the handles and dull your knife
zenner
Good hand feel, slice steak nicely. If the handles last I'll give them a five. Too early to tell. Otherwise, I am happy with them.
Cheryl M
The construction of these knives it great and they look beautiful. They are sharp but not as sharp as I would have expected.
don weber
Sharp as hell also can be sharpened and honed to stay sharp
CAI
Super sharp upon arrival. Be careful. Good looking and high quality.
pcpeggs
Nice middle of the road forged knife. I was looking for something to compliment the 4-knife set of Wusthof Ikon's that I have. As these are backup/overflow, I wasn't too concerned about 100% matching. So far, I am happy with the purchase. Aesthetically, I am pleased with how close to the Ikons they are.
Jack
Seriously nice knives for the price. The blades are pre-sharpened to a satisfactory level and nicely weighted. The polymer handles smell strongly like chemicals at first, but washing them down quickly removed any scent. They should be hand washed but putting them in the dishwasher hasn't resulted in anything negative for me yet (owned for 2 months). I know from experience that wooden handle knives fare poorly in the dishwasher over the long term which is one reason why I didn't go with the nice looking pakkawood handled ones.
Tommy B
As soon as I took these out of the package, I loved the heft and the steel of the blade. And sharp! They even make a zing noise when I take one from the knife block. Beautiful. Highly recommend for yourself or as a gift for almost any adult.
Bobo
Super sharp steak knife that cuts the meat instead of shredding it like a serrated knife does.
Beaud101
For the price of these knives, I'm really pleased. I hate serrated steak knives and these cut very well and feel good in the hand. They do require honing every dozen uses or so, to stay razor sharp, but I have yet to resharpen them after a few months use. They will rust if left in standing water too long and should not be placed in dish washer, tho I have a couple of times and all is well. There are better knives out there with higher end steal that may hold up better and need less maintenance to stay razor sharp...but you'll have to pay a lot more.
Philip Palermo
These cut well, but they never come all the way clean in the dishwasher. This has not been an issue with other knives that we have, and it’s a pain to always have to wash these by hand!
Cédrik Larose
Super couteau, poigné un peu ronde manque de stabilité sur la table, mais sinon je recommande de beaucoup cette article très bien!
L. McCormick
Very nice set of steak knives for the price. I have one set in black and one set in the wood toned handles. So I bought them twice because I like them so much. You can't go wrong!
Joe S
Have owned these just about two years now, and they are still holding up and performing like new. Very sturdy, sharp, (and easy to hone and sharpen when the need arises), elegant looking and slice right through meats with minimal effort. Company and guests that have used them all have remarked on how nice they are. I own the black handled steak knives, but also own the pakkawood in a carving knife-both are very nice. I tend to prefer the black a little more, as the weight gives it that little "extra," but both are superb. For 50 bucks and never having to buy steak knives again, you really can't go wrong.
Timothy
Other reviews have commented on rusting and issues holding an edge, to date I haven't experienced either. I bought a second set. I run them through the dishwasher and other than some slight discoloration of the black polymer handles, there have been no issues.Keep some perspective here, for about $12 per knife you're getting a lot for the money. Get the fine edge polymer handles so they can easily be run over the sharpening steel periodically, run through the dishwasher and enjoy them. Steak knife nirvana starts about $50 a blade. These have a nice feel in your hand, have a nice aesthetic and do the job.
NotDeadYet
Great steak knives. As good or better than some costing 3 or 4 times as much. Very sharp right out of the box. Excellent finish, nice weight and feel in your hands. They are made in China but feel and cut like they were made in Germany. Like all Messermeister knives, these are very high quality, and a steal at this price. You can't go wrong with this set.
Egonzo
These Avanta knives look and feel nice. Nicely polished rivets, good feel, and good quality steel for a kitchen knife. As noted by others, these are not expensive, and are not as well crafted as many more expensive knives (as one would expect!). I paired eight of them for steak/table knives with my Wusthof Classic Ikon black kitchen knives in a very large knife block, and have the following observations:1.) The silver and black pair nicely enough that they can be in the same block and not be totally outclassed, they look similar to the Wusthoff, and are a passable option if you want your knives to match.2.) The attention to detail suffers a bit when compared to Wusthof Ikon, but they are made of x50CrMoV15 (the very same carbon alloy the Wusthof use), and can serve as a cheaper alternative to pricier Wusthof steak knives (these knives get used on dinner plates cutting steaks... I don't expect them to be cared for the same as a quality Chef's knives I care for by using cutting boards!).3.) They are cheap enough to replace that putting them in the dishwasher doesn't bother me one bit (I would never subject my Ikon's to that... and the Messermeisters handles did fade a smidge, but still look quite good, and have not begun to shrink, warp, crack, haze over, or show other issues (over two years old, going on three...). To be clear, Messermeister says NOT to put them in dishwasher, so...4.) My wife doesn't baby knives... so these are her "have at it, and I won't complain about you not using a cutting board or using to poke holes in the kid's science project" knives. I don't get anxious when guests carelessly drop them in the bottom of the sink (except for the risk of someone getting cut...).5.) One knife of my set of 8 has a bit of a stain in the blade steel that has developed over the years. We do abuse these (leave in water, put in dishwasher, leave wet, etc.), and steel (even stainless) will rust, so this is not unexpected. The rust stain is not bad (most would not look closely enough to even notice), and I don't know if it was my poor knife care, or if perhaps it is due to metallurgy issues at the low-cost plant that made these that is the culprit. For the price, it is a non-issue for me. A premium blade treated this way could have the same thing occur, so it isn't a negative in my mind, it is reality... I bought inexpensive knives of decent quality so that I could treat them more poorly than my nicer knives without worry, and that lower level of concern and care certainly contributed to this. These are not forged, quality knives. But a general use steak knife does not need to be for my application.Short answer... they look nice enough to be put next to Wusthof Ikon's. They are not as good, but from three feet away, they look like they belong. Good value, and I would purchase them again. Mine are well over two years old. Despite not babying them, they are still welcome in my knife block.I gave them four stars. For value, I would have given them five stars, but I don't feel knives of this level are five-star knives. Some exceptionally demanding knive experts wouldn't put my Wusthof Ikon's as a five star, but I felt I did need to note that these are value knives. There are better knives. But at this price, you get a very good deal. A good kitchen steel that is fairly easy to sharpen.

These are fantastic knives. They are sharp! They have cut all types of beef cuts very easily. The handles are nice quality. I will keed my eyes open for another great price deal for another set of these fantastic knives.
Subrata Pal
Not nearly the Steakhouse knife. Looks okay, but doesn't feel like you are holding a Steak Knife. Its about 1/4 or 1/3 the weight of a good steak knife. I ordered two sets of these and will probably end up keeping them for everyday type of use (thought not quite priced for everyday use), but definitely doesn't cut the level of what I was looking for as a Gourmet /Steakhouse quality Steak Knife to compliment a gourmet Steak dinner. I would rate this somewhere between a 2 and 3 stars.
J C Hardwood
These are very sharp and exceeded my expectations. I love that they aren't serrated. They cut so well that I use them as additional paring knives in my kitchen.
Nelu
Great knives, guests always compliment my knives. They do come sharp (could be sharper) and they feel high quality
Mike
I am very happy with these knives. I had bought some serrated steak knives and rI really wasn't happy. These knives are perfect, they seem well made and staying sharp. I would recommend these to anyone.
Rayner McGlade
I bought theses for my husband as a birthday gift. He’s so pleased - they cut steak like a hot knife through butter.
T. Mark Graham
It seemed like I looked at over 200 steak knife sets and found only 4 of the style I like, that were NOT SERRATED. What is with "steak knives" with serrations of a type better suited for sawing tree limbs? I even considered buying a less expensive set like the Amazon Basic, and then removing the serrations (I have a small machine-shop). I even practiced with the sanding belts on some old Hampton Forge serrated knives to access the practicality of doing so. In the end, I opted to just buy these, and I'm glad I did. Some of the reviews complained of cracked handles and proud rivets, so I expected to have to return some, but all 12 of the ones I ordered were just fine. I like that the handle style matches well my mix of Cuisinart, Chicago Cutlery, and Faberware forged kitchen knives - the three rivet classic style. I really like the metal cap on the end of the tang. Now I just need to make an under-counter knife-block for them, since I'm out of drawers space.
Frederick Philippe
Fantastic, I would buy it again if I needed to

Old German brand now made in China.
Tony Skorjanc
I bought these knives about six months ago after using the Twin Henckel brand. The Messermeister knives stay sharp and don't rust or shrink the handles in the dishwasher (our dishwasher uses very hot water btw). I'm a bigger guy (6'4") so the handles are slightly small for my hands but the right size for regular sized people. Very good value overall for price - I don't think you can buy a better steak knife for the price.
Regina Thomas
They are very nice knives, very sharp.
Kyle and Lisa Yonago
Absolutely love these knives. We were in desperate need of new steak knives and read a blog review of many different brands on Pinterest and decided to go with these knives. We bought 2 sets! Not only do they look great but they have a good weight and feel in your hand and have maintained their sharpness through many meals!
Trex
Very high quality knives.
Matt
Love these! Fantastic knives.Non-serrated means we can hone and/or sharpen easily when necessary.Excellent value, and looks just fine next to my other Wusthof and Zwilling knives.
Liz G.
Gorgeous, high quality knife set. We have been using ours for almost 6 months now, and they look brand new. We always hand-wash and dry them in order to prevent rust - an issue that we encountered with our previous knife set.
Wyoming Sally
Machinist husband marvels at the quality of these knives...
GadgetGuy
Nice weight and size. Feels like a quality steak knife and the edges are holding up nicely.
Richard Greaves
Perfect steak knives which go with the Messermeister Avanta set. Eight steak knives will fit into the Avanta 11 piece block.
Daniel C
I'm a fan. The knives cut very well and appear to be well made. No issues with cracking upon arrival. They arrived very sharp.
MoJo
These are really excellent knives. Superb construction and high quality steel. The handles are nicely shaped. They are larger than most steak knives and easy to grasp. My wife normally has a problem grasping objects with her hands but she has no problem with these.
sillicon 28
I'd give these ten stars if I could. After some really crappy knives, these were a welcome change. Not cheap but a great value. (They also aren't outrageously expensive like some "name brand" steak knives are.) I'll be ordering a second set of four soon.
TOM
do not hold a sharp blade long
Richard M Hoff
Arrived sharp, reasonably priced & pleased with the quality. Would recommend
Ken K.
These really are outstanding, and a great value. And thats all I have to say about it here. the end.
Amazon Customer
Like the heft and the edge holds pretty well. I'm one of these people that when the sharpness goes -out comes the sharpener as needed as complaining about how quick it dulled will not bring the edge back. The edge holds pretty long in my book and if I expect the edge to hold a lot longer I'll invest in cutlery that can and will cost easily 5x what I paid for these. I'm happy so who else cares?
biggles
Razor sharp, well balanced, great price.
Hozen
Seriously amazing. These things are as sharp as our Wusthof knives and much much cheaper. The quality is what I would expect. We got two sets of four and all eight were in perfect shape without any defects. As a bonus, they match our Wusthof Classic Ikon knives pretty well.
Mark Werner
Excellent, excellent quality.
craig lawrence
Great knifes super sharp! A++++
Amazon Customer
Sharp and balanced. I like the fact these knives are not serrated. Slices through meat like butter.
Susan
Finally, a beautiful sharp knife that will last a lifetime due to its unsurpassing quality! I've been looking for YEARS for a worthy steak knife set, and now the search is finally over. I read the reviews and had to try them out...so glad I did! Highly recommend!!!
Quirk
Knives have a nice weight, and are very sharp - will buy again
B Campbell
much better than most other knives i have owned. the weight feels good and not too clunky. sharp knives.
Leslie N.
You could go with more expensive steak knives, but why would you. These are a great, and it's hard to see how much better knives can be. Be smart, don't pay for marketing and get them.
VHReviews
I didn't love the look of these, but decided to keep them anyway, and I am extremely impressed by how well they work. Clean, perfect slices of meat. They are very comfortable to use as well...
Amazon Customer
Great quality and very sharp!
MarkTX
These are great knives! The best I have ever owned or used. Currently, I grill a lot of skirt steaks, which can be tough, and I have always used a serrated steak knife for that reason. Little did I know that there are knives (like these) that can effortlessly cut through the meat like a scalpel with just one stroke. Eating dinner is my favorite part of the day, and these knives make it a joy. So much so that I hand wash them only.I also ordered the 11-piece Avanta wood block set that has six empty slots for the steak knifes. The block set is on back order, arrives in one month, but I hope the steak knives fit!One star off because the backside says China. I love the economics, but currently Made in China has a cheap stigma.

Just what he wanted

Very happy with my new steak knives. Thank you.

Knives are great replaced the garbage serrated knives I had. Cut through meat and poultry without tearing it to shreds a pleasure to use

Great product and fantastic value! I have been using Messermeister knives for 20 years. I personally think it has a better design than the other German brands. Fine edge steak knives are more 'civil' than serrated ones and can be sharpened over time. I doubt anyone can find a better knife at this price.
Kate
Theses work so well, especially for the price. We used to have serrated steak knives and they really just tear the meat as you cut. These are awesome! We'll be back for more.
